Male Yeast Infection Tips

When you hear the term “yeast infection” the image usually involves a woman. But did you know that men are equally affected by yeast infections? Yes you heard that right, even men can suffer from yeast infections. Male yeast infection is a very common issue and due to the privacy of the nature, it is not discussed as much as it should be to spread awareness. Let’s go over a few things that can give you a better understanding of this problem.

Cause:

A yeast infection is caused by yeast called Candida. There is no way around yeast, as it exists in even the healthiest of people. An outbreak is usually caused by a defective immune system which is not able to keep this yeast under control. Some of the common factors that weaken the immune system are: -

Aids/ HIV infection
Cancer Treatment
Deficiency of Nutrients
Stress
Other Health Issues
It is very common in people that have been diagnosed or are dealing with the problems mentioned above. Male yeast infection can also be transmitted sexually between two partners, but not restricted to this. It can also occur naturally as it needs only a warm, damp place to grow.

Symptoms:

Since yeast likes to grow in a warm, damp place, the male groin area is the most common spot for the infection. It is usually in, under, or on the genitalia. It can also spread around to the creases of the legs and above and behind the genital area as well. Because of the male organ being a hub of nerve endings, a yeast infection in this area can be even more painful than a person can imagine. The three most common symptoms are itching, burning, and a foul odor. Usually the odor is from the gasses being emitted by the yeast metabolizing sugar.

Treatment:

The most common mistake made by people treating male yeast infection is that they seem to think it is a problem that only exists outside your body. The truth is yeast infection in men is caused internally and needs to be treated accordingly. There are a lot of creams and lotions in the market that claim to heal this problem, but only get rid of it temporarily. So be sure to have it diagnosed properly and take care of it right and do it once.

Yeast infections  have been around for a very long time but this is a very common problem occurring in both men and women worldwide. There is no need to be alarmed or worried, with the proper care and treatment you will be infection free within no time. To rule out other problems you should visit your doctor and get a professional opinion before trying over the counter drugs and creams.
